Born in 1942 in Buenos Aires, Ricardo Feierstein was trained as an architect and has worked as a novelist, poet, editor, publisher, and cultural director. Jewish themes appear throughout this collection. As co-translator Stephen A. Sadow writes in the introduction, in the nine-page title poem, "Feierstein moves his focal point through time and space: The European ghetto, a kibbutz in the Galilee, and a Buenos Aires neighborhood collide. Aspects of Jewish identity and recreations of 'temps perdus' are presented in a kaleidoscope of perspectives. Here Feierstein is naive and prophetic, disillusioned and confident."
